EG is the engine prefix for 1930 and 1931 Scouts. EG would be a 37"motor and EGP a 45" motor. The change over from 1930 to 1931 is beleived to be around EGP 3080, and 37 " at around EG 925.
The only largely discernible difference between a 1930 motor and a 1931 motor is the later oil pump for 31 , and DLX 79 Schebler carburettor with pot metal body, also new that year.
The numbering system changed for 1932, as did the motors, as the standard scout was mounted in the Chief frame.
Hope that helps.
