Details needed of Automatic Oiler / Oil Pump Parts

    Hi all,

I hope that someone has got their '28 101 in pieces, as I'm trying to piece back together the automatic oiler / oil pump - but missing some parts.

I'm missing the plunger springs (S2732Y) that go inside the pump which act upon the 2 plungers.

If someone could let me know the uncompressed length and wire gauge of the spring that would be great so I can hunt out something similar.

Other than that I have one plunger missing but luckily found one wedged in the cylinder so should be simple to copy.

    Thanks Mick Lucioni

The spring is 9,5 turns of 0,75mm thickness wire. Diameter 5mm. Measured on my worn springs the length was 17mm. The piston protrudes 8,8mm. When I press the piston down 4,8mm I get 1,9-2,0kg on the scale. I used the piston in the drum and pushed it down on a kitchen scale with a 4mm thick washer as a depth gauge. I don't think the measures I took is very critical but a too stiff spring is not good.

I just got this in a mail from Luka. Contact him if there is interest of the parts he is making or plan to make.    sparovec.luka@gmail.com

I decided that I will make a small batch of pushrod guides for myself and maybe some for sale. I measured 10 original ones and noticed that they vary in outer diameter by about 0,06 mm and that they were not OD ground after hardening. I suppose they are knurled because of that to hold them in place better. Do you think there is any market for that part? If I am going to make them I will probably make OD in steps of 0.001'' to suit different bore sizes in crankcases.

I am also in the process of making parts for automatic oiler. I already had new plunger springs made. I will probably make other parts for the oiler including cast iron housing and cylinder.

    Kind regards, Luka Sparovec

I have already sourced some springs for the automatic oiler - and have some spare.

Based on your measurements of displacement of 4.8mm = approx 2kg

    This equates to 0.417kg/mm or multiplied by 9.81 = 4.09 n/mm

I have a batch of springs to make up minimum order from a UK company called Springmasters.

The part number is C6605230 Rated at 4.02 N/mm - Made from 0.74 dia stainless steel wire, overall diameter 4.57mm, free length 17.45mm, 12.8 coils.

I reckon these should do the job.

If anyone wants a pair "for free" let me know as I have 10 springs going spare.

    Regards Mick Lucioni

    Hi,

Here's an update on the 1928 101 oiler springs, which I have now received.

These are stainless steel, and as near as I could get to Carl-Erik's specification.

See attached pictures of the fitted spring and a single spring.

Protrusion of the plunger is 8.5mm (0.335").

Picture shows manufacturers name and part number so you can look up the full specification of the spring.

I had to order 16 to make up the minimum order, and I'll keep a couple of sets, so as I said previously, I have 10 springs (or 5 sets) available for anyone that wants one. I'm in the UK but not bothered about international postage as it's only letter rates.

    Regards Mick

Hi mick , just read your post as I’ve not been on the forum for some weeks. If you still have any of those springs available I could use a pair. On my recent pump strip down I noticed that I have two odd length ones fitted..I’m in Scotland .

    Hi Mick.

I'm about to go into an oiler rebuild, so can I also please take a couple of your springs?

    Cheers.
