I have to correct a bad repair job on my mechanical oil pump. What is the body material ? Cast iron ? Cast mallable steel ?

    Mike.

Hi Mike, cast iron body, George suggests its a very poor grade too. Brazing/bronze welding recommended as opposed to nickle welding.

    Hi Tim,

    Thanks for info.

I will have to be extra careful with this job as spares are rare as hens teeth !!

I was contemplating having some castings made in perhaps brass or bronze, if repair work is impossible on my pump. (The inlet pipe has been broken off at some time in the past and a extra high fitting has been brazed on badly.)

If I had some blank castings done, would there be any call for them ?

    Mike.

    Hi Tim,

I meant to add, what is the thread size of the large cap with the screwdriver slot  on the pump ?

    Mike.
