Hi. I am replacing the front curved 3/4" tubes on my front forks on the 1929 101, as in its past life, the forks had been lengthened and then shortened, but not correctly, so I don't have original parts to go by
I just need the complete length from top to bottom including where it tapers off at both ends.. As the tubes curve, a measurement with the tape following the curve will be fine.
If several owners can reply, that would be better, so I can get an average figure.
An interesting point about the tubes is that the ends are not just ground off as I thought, but are pressed with a tool the same shape as the main tubes, so are then double thickness and also this gave a bigger area for the spelter/braze to join the parts together and thus make for a stronger joint.
So far I have only removed the top ends , so don't know how the lower ends were done, but as the lowers have been "got at" before, I doubt if I will find out if they were the same type of pressing.
Mike.
