    Hi,

Just bought my first 101 and for starters I would like to know the correct colour. At the moment it is a maroon shade .

As I am in the UK, not sure if we can cross ref. the colours over here but I will see what anyone comes up with and patch it through to my paint suppliers.

    Mike.

The original paint is not manufactured anywhere, I fear it will never be reproduced as the recepy is lost and all components in the paint is either terminated, modified or unobtainable.

I think George Yarocki is using a PPG Delstar number DAR 51049 RED

Mogens Jensen In Denmark matched his orig painted fenders in 2012 to good match  with RAL 3004 doped 60:1 with black.

The paint on my 29 frame (underneath the hand-painted black) appears to more of what I would describe as maroon than a red colour.

I have seen a wide variation in colour interpretation for both scouts and chiefs and folks trying to replicate Indian Red.

In the case of the 101 I think it looks far better in dark red or maroon than any brighter shade.

The dealer where I bought my 2014 Chief, said the Indian Red colour, is, Correct.

I'm not sure if this is true or false.  Does anyone know??

RAL 3004 is a fairly correct shade for most indians. I use a little more black on one but not 60:1.

If you are powder coating anything red like the frame you can match the RAL 3004 to the powder RAL 3004 color and you will be happy. other wise paint the whole thing.
