Tools for toolbox needed

    Hello:

I am trying to outfit my small toolbox with some original Indian tools, but I am not sure of the correct tools.  Does anyone have an idea of which tools would be found in a 101 toolbox?

    Peace.

IDK. But I carry what I think I could need for day-long trips: (1) Small pliers to tighten priming valves should one loosen and to loosen the knurled screw valve on my sump level check brass bleeder; (2) spare sparker (had one Champion fail but now use NGK so maybe now less likely) and plug wrench; (3) brass brush to clean deposits off plug electrodes; (4) can of starting ether in case of some kind of trouble starting not foreseeable now.

Looking for period correct tools from 1928.  I have seen several with the Indian script on them, but not sure which might be standard issue when buying a new 101 in 1928 and will fit in the tool box.

Regarding your question about what tools should be in the toolbox, the parts list includes the following items:

    Monkey wrench
    Spark plug wrench
    Screw driver
    Oil can (accessory)
    Tire repair outfit (accessory)
    Pump clips, per pair
    Tire pump
    Chain repair tool (accessory)
    Open end wrench 41/64, 3/8, 5/16
    Open end wrench 45/64, 29/64
    Open end wrench 49/64, 37/64
    Double end socket wrench (accessory)
Double end socket wrench pin (accessory)
    Pliers
Automatic oiler pump test plug (accessory)
    Tool roll
Automatic oiler cam adjusting screw wrench
Valve sleeve and head adjusting cone wrench
    Valve tappet screw wrench
    Cylinder stud nut wrench (accessory)
    Cylinder head stud nut wrench
    Cylinder stud nut wrench handle
    Alemite grease gun
    Alemite grease gun hose

Of course, having a list in the parts book doesn't mean that all of the above would have been supplied with the motorcycle. I've never seen even a photo of an original 101 Scout tool roll with tools; if you find one, please share it with us!

Hy my friends, that’s what I have for my Scout 101.

I added a list of the original tools and an overview what is on the picture and what is missing.

    All the best, Matthias

...there was a discussion on the AMCA site about the tools included in the tool kit for a 1924 Scout, but the discussion also included a picture of a page from the 1930 accessory catalog, pictures of a 1924 tool roll which is very similar to Matthias' tool roll, and more:
