Battery recommendations

I have been through 2 12vt batteries in 2 years on my 1930 scout with an Antonio Esteves rebuilt generator and am looking for suggestions for another type battery (size and type) to try next as this type of battery (see photo) just doesn’t seem to be cutting it and I don’t know what the issue is. It’s the type and style battery Randy installed when the bike was restored but i just haven’t had any luck with it. The first one seemed to melt and this one jist stopped charging and working. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Your problem is likely overcharging. The recommended voltages are listed on the battery. If the terminal voltage is high, say 15 Volts, when the engine is revved to cruising RPM, the the battery will fry. Whatever regulator you have is improperly adjusted or has failed.
