I have a 1930 101 Scout that I would like to install a speedometer. I am looking for some advice on the proper set-up of the speedometer assembly. I have seen photos of few bikes with different configurations and have some specific questions:
1. Is the rear drive from the right side using an 11 tooth phenolic pinion gear driven by the 36 tooth rear sprocket correct?
2. Alternatively, should the drive be set-up on the left side using an 86 tooth ring gear attached to the wheel spokes and a 26 tooth pinion gear?
3. Based on the above, should the speedo be mounted on the right or left side of the tank?
4. Would I need a 34" cable regardless of the drive orientation (left side or right side drive)?
Also, any help with the sourcing of an 80 MPH Corbin speedo and the required drive parts would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Doug
