Can anybody verify that the threads on the compression release cam are 1/4-20 and not 1/4-28 or something weird?  Mine are pretty bodged (learned that word from Tim), and I don't want to use the wrong re-threading die.

    Thanks,
    John

So, careful observation under high magnification reveals that it is indeed weird - 1/4 - 24.  That's why neither my 20 or 28 thread per inch dies would fit.  Now to find a die and nut...

Aha, well spotted John. There are indeed a lot of 24 TPI threads on Indians, from 12-24 right up thru 1 1/8 24 for the steering head nut.
