    Hi!

Have any of you seen a bracket like this? It’s mounted on the rear fender of my 1931 Scout. Is it original? What’s it fore.

    Best regards Magnus

I haven't seen that before but it looks like a very practical belt loop to secure baggage on the luggage rack.

I have one the same on my 1930 Scout. I use it to hold the rear fender section to the luggage rack when it's hinged up

Maybe an English thing? Perhaps your bikes are from the same distributor from the beginning?

my 1931 101 that was originally sold in Denmark and has the dealer tag from Arnold Andersen from Langeskov still on it has the same bracket. I think it has to do with the passanger seat made in Denmark that was on my bike, but am not sure. On the pictures from the 1970ies the strap that can be seen on the passenger seat bracket was connected to the fender......still to not know what for???

The manufacturer of the saddle is "Ilford" if I read the tag correctly. Nice Art deco logo in the back of the saddle and correct footpegs. Not 100% sure if it is Danish, but I think to remember I reseached in the past.....

I never whated to use the passenger seat, but now with kids and the background that it must almost have been a "standard" on Danish 101s I think of putting it back on :-)

Yes, leave it on. It does not hurt the look of the bike and is "original".

I was lucky to get my 1931 twenty years ago from a Danish architect who lives in Vienna since a long time........
